BALANCE UPDATE

Merge Tactics Balance Changes

Every buff, nerf and rework of this update, grouped by what it affects.

How to read a balance update

Every update on this page is grouped by what it affects, and you can step back through earlier ones with the arrows. Reading them in sequence is often more informative than reading the newest in isolation, because a troop that looks strong today may simply be recovering from a nerf two updates ago.

A percentage is not a verdict

The size of a change says less than where it lands. A small reduction can remove a troop from play entirely if it drops below the point where it survives a common interaction, while a much larger-looking adjustment can leave that troop exactly as playable as before. What matters is whether the change crosses a threshold that decides an encounter, not how big the number is.

Reworks matter more than numbers

A buff or nerf shifts how strong something is. A rework changes what it does, and that ripples outward: troops built around the old behaviour lose their reason to exist together, and combinations nobody used suddenly make sense. When an update contains a rework, expect the composition of good builds to move more than the raw numbers suggest.

Give an update time before judging it

The first reaction to a balance change is rarely the accurate one. Immediately after an update people keep playing what they know, so the strongest response to the new situation has not appeared yet. Traits and modifiers interact, and it usually takes a while before the combinations that actually benefited become visible. Treat the first days after an update as an open question rather than a settled answer.
