Reading the Merge Tactics standings

This page shows the ranking for the season currently being played, with the leading players, the season's headline numbers and a search for a specific player. It is the dedicated Merge Tactics view: the event leaderboard elsewhere on the site covers whichever competition happens to be running at the time and points here while Merge Tactics is the live one.

A season is a fresh start

Standings belong to one season and do not carry over. That matters more in Merge Tactics than in a mode with a fixed card pool, because a season revises the material itself: it introduces a new Ruler and new modifiers, sometimes adds traits or equipment, and adjusts close to every troop: elixir costs move, and troops gain abilities they did not have before. A player near the top last season is not carrying an advantage into this one beyond their own experience.

Why a single result says little

Merge Tactics produces placements rather than straightforward wins and losses, and placements swing. A strong run can contain several poor rounds and a weak one can open with a win, because what you are offered differs every game. Ranking rewards holding up across many games, which is why the players at the top are rarely the ones with the most spectacular single result.

What the top of the board is useful for

Treat the leading players as evidence about which approaches survive against strong opposition in the current season, not as a build to copy outright. What you can actually field depends on the troops you are offered and the traits you can realistically complete, so a fixed plan tends to cost more than adapting does. If you want the mechanics behind that (rounds, economy, merging and positioning) the tutorial covers them properly, the season reference lists what is available to build with right now, and the team builder is where you try a specific build out.
